The Vice President for Finance and Administration is the chief financial officer of the college and oversees financial and business operations of the College, including financial planning, budget development and control, investments, personnel services, physical plant administration, new construction, risk management, real estate management, and various service operations such as the Vassar College Bookstore. Reporting to the vice president are the associate vice president and director of investments, the controller, the director of budget and planning, the executive director of buildings and grounds services, and the director of human resources.

Accounting Services is responsible for financial transactions and record keeping for all activities of the College. Specific functions of Accounting Services include cash receipts and disbursements, payroll, budget control, tax reporting, preparation of internal and external financial reports, and support for student organization accounts.

Other units reporting to the Controller include the Office of Student and Employee Accounts located in Main and the Department of Purchasing located at the Buildings and Grounds Service Center. In addition to other duties, the Director of Purchasing oversees the Copy Center and the Post Office.

The Office of Student and Employee Accounts is responsible for billing and collection for tuition, fees, and other expenses incurred by students, as well as miscellaneous bills for charges to employees. The cashier's window is open daily from 10:00am – 3:00pm for transactions.

The director of purchasing oversees the Purchasing Department and Receiving and Stores. These departments are responsible for the procurement of the materials, equipment, supplies and services essential to the operation of the College, and the maintenance of essential inventories. Purchasing strives to ensure the best price and most beneficial terms and conditions in accordance with Vassar College policy and procedures. The Director of Purchasing also oversees the Copy Center, (located on the first floor of Main South), and the Post Office (located in the College Center).

The offices and warehouse are located adjacent to the Buildings and Grounds Services Center.

The Copy Center provides duplication services for the Vassar community, with equipment that is suited to the production of large quantities in a cost effective manner. Faculty are advised to adhere to the College's policy on use of copyright material which is available in the Copy Center and through the office of the Dean of Faulty.

The Post Office is a contract station of the U.S. Postal Service, providing a full range of window services. The Post Office is responsible for distribution of incoming and internal mail as well as mail forwarding and metering outgoing College mail. Private carrier mail and small packages are delivered through the Post Office; larger private carrier packages must be picked up at Central Receiving.

The Budget Director administers the development of Vassar's annual operating and capital budgets, coordinates plans and financial forecasts for the college, and undertakes special projects to improve financial planning and management at the College. The Budget Director serves on and supports the work of Committee on Priorities and Planning and provides comparative data to support the work of the Faculty Compensation Committee.

The Associate Vice President and Director of Investments is responsible for overseeing investment of Vassar's endowment, defined benefit pension plan, and planned gift assets. In addition, the Director develops financial plans for construction and campus renewal, including long-term debt.
